When we formed the idea behind Vegan Grand Rapids in 2010, we never imagined it would become what it is today. As new vegans back then, we just wanted to find good food and help others by sharing what we learned.
Vegan Grand Rapids evolved quickly from a website with a restaurant guide to one that included resources on transitioning to a plant-based diet, shopping for vegan groceries, a directory of local vegan-friendly businesses, and more. We quickly learned that we could use it as a platform to take things offline, creating events that opened up other opportunities. From organizing cooking classes, beer pairing dinners, food demos, pop-up markets, flash mobs, vegan drinks events and anything else we could use to connect vegans (and lots of non-vegans!) in Grand Rapids, we’ve tried it all. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people. We have loved every minute of it and contributing to the growing vegan scene.
During the last eight years, Grand Rapids has grown in just about every way you can imagine, and the vegan community is no different. In that time, four restaurants offering vegan options has grown to over forty, and there are no signs that things will be slowing down. Keeping up with everything is a challenge for the two of us these days, but it’s a challenge that we’re up for. We know we have many more listings to add, and update others. We will continue to do our very best to stay up to date and relevant with the latest restaurants information, old and new, shopping information and everything else. If you have any feedback about the website or anything else, contact us and let us know. It takes a village as they say, and any help you can offer to keep us up-to-date is hugely helpful. We’re here for you and knowing how we can help you is our goal.
So with that, we want to introduce you to the new Vegan Grand Rapids website. We hope that the new design allows you to more easily find whatever it is you’re looking for, whether it be a fun night out on the town or finding the best price for nutritional yeast. The website will continue to evolve, and as it does, you can be sure we’ll let you know here, on our social media pages – or the best way to hear everything first is through our newsletter (sign up here if you’re not already on the list).
