SpeakEZ Lounge

SpeakEZ Lounge is a laid-back “speakeasy” style pub with a great selection of beer, wine, and liquor, but beyond the extensive drink selection and specialty cocktails, they offer an extensive menu with many vegan and gluten-free dishes, which are clearly marked.

The menu isn’t huge for vegans, but there’s a lot we like about SpeakEZ. A lot of thought goes into the vegan food. Because there are options for everyone, this is a favorite place for us to meet up with family or friends.

Banh mi jackfruit sliders made of pulled jackfruit marinated in a Thai peanut sauce are a solid choice.  They’re served with mini Bao buns and a dipping sauce. On the small plates menu is the madeira mushroom ménage à trois. Crimini, button and portobello mushrooms are sautéed with shallots, served on a crostini. It’s not vegan but can easily be made vegan when ordering if you ask.

The quinoa tabbouleh salad is large and filling. For a sandwich, you can order the grilled jackfruit crunch-wrap. Seasoned jackfruit, guacamole salad, chipotle aioli (yes, vegan), red onion and crushed tortilla chips are wrapped up in a flour tortilla and grilled. If you’re looking for something more substantial, check out the tofu stir fry (on the spicer side) and the risotto Barcelona.

Not a ton of places in town have a vegan desert on the menu,  but SpeakEZ does! The apple caramel cake is tasty,

And last, but not least, in a town that is short on vegan brunch options, there’s a very filling tofu scramble. Served with potatoes and toast it’s called mary swanson’s brekkie. There’s also a breakfast burrito that you can order with tofu or jackfruit. We recommend that you add avocado.

SpeakEZ often runs dinner specials that include great vegan options, so be sure to ask your server. Some holidays – New Year’s Eve or Valentine’s Day – they offer 3 or 5-course meals with one vegan option, including dessert! SpeakEZ understands different dietary needs and makes an effort to accommodate everyone.

SpeakEZ offers tons of events. From live music to presentations from experts on a variety of issues. They are also known for the huge crowds that gather during Football season (or Soccer to us Americans).
