We debated if we should add Freshii to the Restaurant Guide because it’s a chain restaurant, but we think they deserve a spot. Their location in downtown offers options you can’t find anywhere else in the area, and that’s important, especially if you work downtown and you’re looking for healthy, vegan food for lunch.
As the name implies, Freshii offers fresh food focused on health and nutrition, and it’s fast. Grab a salad, burrito, wrap, soup, or bowl stuffed full of fresh veggies and go. You can order off the menu or build your own. Many of the menu items are vegan (the only thing you’ll need to look out for is cheese or dairy-based dressing). For instance, the buddha’s satay bowl is vegan. Rice noodles, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, and green onions, are tossed in a peanut sauce (order it without the wontons – they contain egg). The burritos are just as satisfying. The Thai lemongrass burrito is vegan – stuffed with quinoa, cabbage, carrots, cilantro, edamame, and spicy lemongrass sauce. If you want a salad, all the choices are solid. The superbiotic has spinach and romaine, chickpeas, red onions, cucumbers, sundried tomatoes, corn, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, and cucumber dill dressing. The cucumber dill dressing is also vegan.
Add tofu, falafel, kale or quinoa for an added kick to any dish.
Freshii also serves smoothies and juices. The juices are all vegan and there is one smoothie that’s dairy-free. It’s the one made with coconut milk. There’s a beverage cooler in front of the cash register where you can usually just grab one already made. Again – super fast!
