Vegan Grand Rapids Review

Brick Road Pizza Co. says “we are not your typical pizza joint…” They’ve got that part right. BRP does offer meat, but so, so much vegan food. BRP was doing vegan food in Grand Rapids long before it was cool, and they’re doing it better than ever. The menu is inventive, and delicious. You can judge a pizza joint by their crust, and BRPs ranks up there with the best.

The buffalo tofu pizza is one of our go-to options. Tofu drenched in buffalo sauce is on a crust topped with ranch, tomatoes, green onion, and more ranch. We’re also partial to the loaded potato pizza. Baked potato, tempeh bacon bits, vegan cheese, sour cream, and scallions. Hard to go wrong with the vegan deluxe.

The pizzas are good but if you’re not digging deeper into the menu, you’re doing it wrong. Vegan sandwiches include the Philly steak – tempeh, grilled onion, green pepper and mushroom topped with vegan cheese sauce and vegenaise. Not diet food, but we’re not judging. The vegan pulled pork is another favorite. Jackfruit, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato and coleslaw on a hamburger bun.

They also have a veggie burger you can order four different ways, and the pasta is not to be missed. Mac and cheese with your choice of toppings (up to three), and we also like the vegan alfredo. Oh, the breadsticks are incredible, and the cinnamon breadsticks… heaven

A lunch buffet Tuesday through Friday is a great choice, but the best is Sunday brunch. The buffet menu is always changing – and to be fair, some are better than others. You’ll get a handful of dishes, along with all you can eat pizza.

Not too long ago, BRP took the rear part of the building and turned it into a bar – the backside bar. There are tables back there, and you can still order the full menu. A pretty good tip to sit back there as it’s usually much quieter than the dining room which can be busy and pretty hectic.

Finally, BRP is one of the best places for holiday meals. They offer brunch buffets for many holidays, and for Thanksgiving, you can order a full meal to go you just need to reheat on the big day. Just make sure you get your order in quickly, as it always sells out.
